Cultural Engagement Framework

The Cultural Engagement Framework celebrates our diversity and creates opportunities for all Australians to participate in our cultural life. It includes:

People with disability

The Australia Council supports initiatives that provide opportunities for artists, participants and audiences with disability to engage in Australia’s arts and cultural life.

We recognise that opportunities to participate in and enjoy the arts for people with disability may also be affected by issues relating to cultural diversity, youth, Aboriginality and living in regional or remote communities.

We aim to

  • increase opportunities for people with disability to participate in and enjoy arts and cultural events
  • increase access to support for artists with disability

We provide

  • advice to the Federal Government on the National Arts and Disability Strategy
  • support to key arts and disability producing and service organisations
  • support to implement our Arts and Disability Action Plan
  • professional development of our staff with and through our Access Champions
