Annual Report 2008-09

The annual report is a report on the operations of the Australia Council for the 2008-09 financial year.

This year's annual report is themed' One Arts Sector: One Arts Council’  to reflect the major review the Australia Council undertook of its operations and funding, working to maximise the effectiveness of our funding to artists and art organisations and to address key trends facing our industry.

‘One Arts Sector: One Arts Council’ represents an integrated approach across all divisions of the Australia Council, each outwardly focused to contribute to the excellent practice of the arts and their enjoyment by all Australians. 

Some of the key indicators of the Australia Council's activity over the year were:

• $175.3 million in total grant and project funding to artists and arts organisations
• 1846 Australia Council grants and projects
• 5526 new artistic works created with Australia Council support
• 5414 new artistic works presented with Australia Council support
• 13 million attendances at Australia Council-supported events.
