Artform boards
The Australia Council's seven artform boards are the principal administrators of its arts funding role.
The seven artform board, and two committees, are:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts board
- Community partnerships committee
- Dance board
- Inter-arts office
- Literature board
- Major performing arts board
- Music board
- Theatre board
- Visual arts board.
Most boards have seven members and all have a chairperson, appointed by the Minister for the Arts and Sport. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts board has nine members, including a chairperson. The major performing arts board has eight members.
Artform boards must include people who practise or have practised the arts or are otherwise associated with the arts, as well as a number of community interest representatives, as the Minister thinks fit.
The artform boards are the Council’s major source of advice on the development of arts policy and grant programs. They also develop their own policies within the framework of policies and priorities determined by the Council.
How do I record my interest in nomination for board membership?
