Literary journals

The literature board aims to get Australian literature written and read, and to open up opportunities for our writers to earn from their creative work. And to keep the avenues of debate, discussion, analysis and criticism open.

For all these reasons we provide funding to the nation’s key literary and critical journals.

Each journal focuses on a particular perspective within the national and international cultural debate. Sometimes their views are markedly different. Sometimes they coincide. Always they stimulate thought and create new perspectives for the reader. Most of the journals also showcase the creative work of rising literary talent. From these journals will come future literary stars.

Here - in alphabetical order - are those journals we regularly fund. We also support the monthly Australian Literary Review supplement in The Australian newspaper. Read them and widen your perspective.
