Prof Graeme Koehne SA - chair
Prof Graeme Koehne is head of composition at the Elder School of Music, University of Adelaide. He has been commissioned by some of the major performing arts companies in Australia, including the Australian Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Musica Viva and the State symphony orchestras.
Prof Andrew Arthurs Qld
Prof Andrew Arthurs is currently professor of music and head of music and sound at Queensland University of Technology. He is also an executive member of the Music Council of Australia, a board member of the Brisbane Powerhouse, and a member of the Steering Committee for the National Review of School Music Education. Andrew has composed music for dance, film, television and multi-media. His recent compositions include songs for The Ten Tenors album Larger than Life and Tenology.
Graeme Lyall AM SA
Graeme commenced his professional career at the age of 17 as a saxophonist at the Palais Ballroom and The Embers nightclub in Melbourne. At 19 he moved to Sydney and at 22 was appointed as a musician and arranger with the TCN 9 Orchestra.
Graeme moved back to Melbourne in 1971 to take up an appointment as composer, arranger and record producer at Armstrong Studios. He was a member of the ABC Melbourne Showband for 3 years and in 1977 was appointed Director of Music at GTV-9 Melbourne. During this time Graeme won a number of prizes and accolades.
In the mid 80's Graeme left full time television to concentrate on teaching. He returned for special events including AFL and NRL Grand Finals, Carols by Candlelight and the Logie Awards and then full time in 1991 to be musical director of Hey Hey It's Saturday.
Since 1992, Graeme has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Victorian College of the Arts and the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). As well as performing, writing, arranging and teaching at WAAPA, Graeme is the Artistic Director of the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra and musical director of the WAYJO Composers Ensemble.
In 2003, Graeme received a Centenary Medal for services to music. In 2008, he re-located to Mount Gambier to take up a full-time position as Director of Music at Tenison Woods College. Part of this role includes a revitalising and expansion of music in the S.E. Region of South Australia.
Neil Thompson QLD
Neil is an experienced lawyer and an author. He has a long record of service on arts-related boards. He served as a board member of the Queensland Theatre Orchestra (now known as the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra) from 1982–1990, and as a member on the artistic advisory board for the Brisbane Festival from 1998–2002. Since 2003, he has been chair of the Queensland Choir Board. In 2001, Mr Thompson received a Centenary of Federation Medal for service to the arts.
Kim Mooney
Following studies in violin and viola, conducting and composition in Sydney, Salzburg and Vienna, Kim's career as a conductor included symphonic and chamber orchestral concerts, opera, operetta and musicals, as well as several recordings for Austrian Radio, whilst based in Europe. Kim was artistic administrator of Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Austria took part in a number of international music festivals, including the Spoleto Music Festivals in Italy and Melbourne, the Wexford Opera Festival in Ireland and the Ossiacher Festival in Austria.
Kim is currently the Chief Financial Officer - Asia Pacific Region, for the ACCOR ASIA PACIFIC CORPORATION LTD. He is a member of the Board of Directors for all holding companies, subsidiaries and joint venture companies of the corporation and a Director of the Reef Casino Trust.
