FAQs
Why are the positions advertised not public service positions?
The Australia Council Act established the organisation as a statutory authority in 1975, giving it a substantial measure of independence to provide support for the arts without direct government intervention. The Australia Council employs its people under section 41 of the act.
What types of employment does the Australia Council offer?
We employ our people under the Australia Council Enterprise Agreement 2011 – 2014 or Individual Employment Agreements as either:
- ongoing employees
- non-ongoing or fixed-term employees
- contract/temporary employees.
What are the classification bands in the position profile?
Each role at the Australia Council is classified into a particular band structure which is consistent with Australia Council work level standards. These refer to the nature and features of work in areas such as complexity, independence, leadership, responsibility and communication.
Do you have a temp register?
No, we do not keep a temp register. We employ casual and temporary employees on an as-needs basis.
Do you offer internships or work experience opportunities for students?
Currently, we do not have any specific placements or programs available. We will consider individuals on a case-by case basis at the discretion of the Council. You may submit your information here.
