The Australia Council library provides the arts sector with access to specialist information on the arts.
Located within the Judith Wright Research Centre, the library holds a comprehensive collection of books and serials covering contemporary and historical trends in arts sector development, as well as an archive of Australia Council policies, programs and publications.
The collection focuses on research and analysis relating to:
- arts and cultural policy in Australia and overseas
- arts marketing and audience development
- Arts in a Multicultural Australia
- community arts
- cultural statistics
- disability
- education
- Indigenous arts
- philanthropy
- regional arts
- young people
- Australia Council archival film series
The collection also holds copies of all books and reports published by the Australia Council, including annual reports and grants lists since 1973.
The library does not however hold personal or financial information relating to specific grants or programs funded by the Australia Council.
Accessing the collection
The Australia Council library catalogue is available to view online.
External users may borrow items from the collection via the InterLibrary Loan network through their local or university library.
Access to the library collection is available to external users by appointment. The Judith Wright Research Centre is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Please contact us to discuss your research requirements and to arrange an appointment.
The library provides photocopying facilities at a small charge. Please note that payment for photocopying can only be accepted in cash.
Arts RiPPA
Arts RiPPA is an arts and cultural policy research digest that profiles a range of current and planned research activity in Australia. The focus is on qualitative and quantitative research into arts audiences and participants, as well as analytical research into creative industry development, arts impacts, infrastructure support for artists and regulatory and policy instruments.
