Creative communities
The Australia Council creative communities strategy develops and sustains a wide range of partnerships to support culturally vibrant communities through engagement with, and participation in, the arts.
It will enhance a whole-of-government approach across the Australia Council to achieve significant outcomes for the arts and community building.
The strategy aims to:
- increase individual and community access to, and direct participation in, arts and cultural expression and activities; and
- enhance recognition and understanding of the key role of the arts in cultural, social and economic development.
Current initiatives
- Community partnerships grants and investment programs, worth approximately $5 million per year
- Completing implementation of creative communities report recommendations.
Emerging issues
Delivery of the additional Australian Government funds budgeted for creative communities, worth an additional $2.5 million per year over four years.
