Prof Brad Haseman
Professor Brad Haseman was appointed to the Council as a community interest representative for three years from 26 March 2008. He is also chair of the Australia Council's community partnerships committee.
He is assistant dean (research) with the Creative Industries Faculty at the Queensland University of Technology. Formerly head of drama at QUT, he is well-known as an author (Dramawise and Communicate Live!) and as a workshop leader and speaker both nationally and internationally.
In 1995, Brad was co-convenor of IDEA ‘95, the second International Drama and Education Congress in Brisbane, and in 2005 co-convened the national conference Speculation and Innovation: Applying Practice-Led Research in the Creative Industries. Brad served for more than a decade on a number of committees concerned with the provision and delivery of the arts education and was president of Contact Youth Theatre and chair of the GRUNT Youth Space in Brisbane.
In 2001, Brad worked with the Itibwerere Community Theatre in Kiribati to devise shows promoting health issues and civic society in the tiny Central Pacific republic and is currently implementing a research project in Papua New Guinea developing arts based education programs for the prevention of HIV/AIDS. His current research investigates practice-led methodologies for the arts and creative practices and evaluates the impact of experiential learning techniques in corporate and community settings.
Brad has received a number of awards for teaching and leadership at QUT and in recognition of his outstanding contribution to drama education has been awarded lifetime membership of the Drama Queensland, the professional association for the promotion of drama in education.
