National Dance Forum 2011 – November update
The National Dance Forum will gather together some of Australia’s most exciting dancers, choreographers, curators, critics and collaborators in a lively discussion over two days on Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 March 2011 at Arts House North Melbourne Town Hall.
The first national forum of its kind for many years, its overarching aim is to provide an opportunity for the dance sector to reflect on the state of dance practice in Australia now, and to chart a course for the future. Following a sector consultation process conducted earlier this year, the forum’s program is being developed with the assistance of a national advisory panel.
Through keynote conversations with established artists, and a series of interactive panel and roundtable sessions, the forum will invite participants to explore the many ways we practise and refine our artform: in and out of the studio, and both in and outside the process of making performance work.
Topics to be explored will include understanding and articulating one’s practice, feedback and reflection, practice and career development, collaboration, dramaturgy, new media and the digital technologies, hybrid and interdisciplinary practice, dance on film and dance practice in communities.
