Nick Power receives Cité Paris Residency
The Australia Council Dance Board is proud to announce Nick Power as the recipientof the Cité Paris Residency for 2012. Nick Power is a Sydney based hip hop dancer, choreographer, teacher and Artistic Director.
Since starting out 12 years ago, running his own dance space in Brisbane, Nick has facilitated community cultural development workshop projects, nurtured young and emerging dancers, worked in regional centres and remote Indigenous communities and produced large scale dance based events and festivals. He has choreographed and performed in major festival shows throughout Australia and Europe and has worked with companies and organisations such as Tracks Inc, Stalker Theatre, Sydney Festival, CarriageWorks and Brisbane City Council.
As part of this residency Nick will be developing connections with Chute Libre, Par Terre and Sebastien Ramirez Company and attending Breakin Convention, Danse Hip Hop Tanz and Juste Debout Street Dance Festivals.
Every three years the Dance Board provides a professional development opportunity for a dance artist by offering a three-month residential studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. The residency is for the period 27 February to 28 May 2012. The recipient is also supported with $10,000 living and travel allowance.
