International Pathways results
DZ Deathrays, a thrash pop duo from Brisbane, have received support in the latest International Pathways funding round.
DZ Deathrays is made up of Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley, two friends from Brisbane who make a lot of noise with just a drum kit and guitar. They started up three years ago playing house parties and after the release of two EP’s now pack out venues in Australia and overseas, touring with Crystal Castles, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ratatat, The Temper Trap, as well as at festivals such as Big Day Out, Parklife, Field Day, Laneway and many more. DZ Deathrays have been generating buzz, international audiences and industry support throughout 2011 with showcase performances at CMJ, SXSW, the Great Escape and a slot on the 2011 Emerge NME Radar tour. With the support of International Pathways DZ Deathrays will undertake an 11 date tour of the UK, US, Canada and Japan.
International Pathways supports international touring by Australian musicians performing predominantly original Australian music. It assists with the development of markets and audiences through live performance.
Other artists funded in this round include singer-songwriter Frank Yamma, jazz ensemble The Australian Art Orchestra and experimental rock band PVT.
