Jonti, the multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, has received support in the latest Soundclash funding round.
Since Stones Throw released Twirligig in 2011, Jonti has been making a name for himself as one of Australia's most interesting musical exports for his complex yet undeniably pop arrangements. Having previously worked with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon, Hodgy Beats and the Dap-Kings, he decided to work on his debut album completely alone, creating and producing the work from start to finish in his bedroom. For his second album, and with the support of Soundclash, Jonti will again undertake a period of writing and recording with a host of local and international artists to create his much anticipated follow up release.
Soundclash is a contemporary music initiative of the Australia Council's Music Board. The initiative seeks to assist the creative development of music which takes risks and demonstrates innovation within the popular music form.
A full list of the successful recipients can be found in the assessment meeting report.
Soundclash was a four year initiative of the Music Board, and this was the fourth and final closing date. Experimental acts wanting to write and record new material should look at the New Work category for future applications.
