Circa's success in London and New York

09 July 2012

Circa is just returning from a successful tour to the BITE at the Barbican in London and the New Victory Theatre in New York.

Over four weeks, 30 performances of Circa and 46 Circus Acts in 45 Minutes were greeted with excellent houses, great reviews and tremendous audience responses. Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz said, "It was a real privilege to perform in two such high-profile venues and cities and the Circa ensemble rose to the occasion."

Some of the feedback included:

an hour-plus of stage hedonism which, in its sheer force of daring and corporeal ingenuity, might - once they and I are serious dust, and as long as someone's recorded it - become one of the Wonders of the   World.

...something extraordinary. It's breathtaking, beautiful and sexy: there is a remarkable sequence in which a woman in red stilettos walks all over a man's body that says a great deal about sexual politics    and even more about sadomasochism. But Circa is also astonishingly moving, its story of human co-operation and frailty emerging through an acro-ballet.

It all moves at break-neck speed, no two routines are the same, and youre pretty much guaranteed to feel like you're out of shape afterwards. Brilliant.

Circa are on tour in Birmingham, Korea, Germany, Australia and the US in the next few months.

Circa are a Key Organisation of the Australia Council's Theatre Board and are one of four companies who receive International Status funding.
