Key organisations - emerging grants are for dance organisations that have sustained national or international influence, are leading innovators that extend dance practice or are acknowledged centres of excellence.

About this category

Key organisations – emerging grants provide a pathway to triennial funding – after three years receiving these grants, organisations are eligible to apply for multi year funding. This category is new for 2008. Proposals must be discussed with dance staff before submission.

These grants are for organisations aspiring to receive key organisations - multi-year grants funding.

Assessment criteria

Applications will be assessed according to the following selection criteria:

• The extent to which the organisation demonstrates that they are or can be one of the following:      
  • An organisation with a sustained national and/or international presence or influence     
  • A leading innovator that consistently extends dance practice     
  • An acknowledged centre of excellence in its particular form or practice   
• The quality and innovation of the program and the calibre of the people involved
• Benefit and/or audience development
• Contribution to the cultural diversity of Australian dance
• Good planning, governance and management, including effective use of resources.

Eligibility

Organisations may only receive a key organisations-emerging grant for a maximum of three consecutive years. Organisations need to apply for continuation each year.  At the end of this three-year period, organisations are eligible to apply for a key organisations - multi year grant.  If unsuccessful, they are not eligible to apply again for an key organisations-emerging grant for three years. 

Eligibility criteria

• Organisations only
• Applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria
• Has a minimum of 30 per cent of income per year from sources other than the Australia Council
• Must have received at least three grants from the Australia Council within the last five years.
