Presentation and promotion - visual arts

Presentation and promotion grants assist arts organisations to present and promote contemporary Australian craft, design, media art and visual arts to audiences in Australia and overseas.

Closing date: 1 August 2008
Decisions advised: November 2008
Projects may start: 1 January 2009

About this category

Projects supported by this category include exhibitions, publications and conferences, and support for significant international visitors. Such projects should have a rigorous curatorial framework, aligned with suitable audience development strategies. A project can have multiple parts and may span more than 12 months.

Who is eligible to apply?

This category is open to organisations only. Applicants must meet the general eligibility requirements.

Current recipients of multi-year funding may apply to the presentation and promotion category in 2008. Projects must complement the organisation’s business plan for 2008–10, but should not be for core activities.

What are the selection criteria?

Applications will be selected that best demonstrate:

  • The high calibre of the artists and other professionals involved
  • Evidence that the project is well planned and will increase opportunities for arts practitioners, broaden audiences and stimulate critical debate.

What should I submit?

You must submit the required support material in addition to the application form.

Important information

In exceptional circumstances an application may be accepted under the out-of-time provisions.

The visual arts board may support only a part of the proposed program.

Applications are not accepted for participation in art fairs.

Support for exhibition touring is also available through the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program.
