Project and professional development (category B) - community partnerships
Project and professional development (category B) grants provide funding up to $20,000 for one-off community arts and cultural development projects that involve a range of collaborating partners and may or may not have a public outcome.
Closing dates: Applications will be accepted at any time from 1 February to 1 September 2008.
About this category
In relation to this category, the term ‘partners’ refers to individuals or organisations that will help make the project happen. The partners will work in collaboration towards a shared vision and may contribute financially or in kind to the project.
Individual artists and arts workers seeking support for professional development opportunities in community arts and cultural development should apply to this category. First time applicants are encouraged to apply.

Who is eligible to apply?
This category is open to individuals, groups and organisations. Applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria.
Organisations currently in receipt of community partnerships multi-year or annual funding, and individuals currently in receipt of an Australia Council fellowship may not apply to this category.
What are the selection criteria?
Applications will be selected that best demonstrate:
- Quality of the community engagement with artistic and cultural outcomes
- Capacity and skills of artists and/or facilitators to achieve the project outcomes
- Strong project planning and effective use of resources
- Quality of the developmental outcomes for communities while addressing at least one of the community partnerships priority areas - regional Australia, disability, young people, cultural diversity, emerging communities, Indigenous people, remote Indigenous communities, and specific social and cultural issues.
For professional development proposals, individual applicants should also demonstrate:
- How the proposal will contribute to enhancing their future in community arts and cultural development practice.
What should you submit?
You must submit the required support material in addition to the application form.
Assessment
The community partnerships committee will assess an application in the first available round following the receipt of an application.
In 2008, there will be four rounds as listed below. Please ensure your application is post-marked or hand-delivered within the specified dates for the round in which you wish your application to be assessed.

Applications accepted: 1 February to 3 March 2008
Decisions advised: May 2008
Projects may start: 15 June 2008
Round 2
Applications accepted: 4 March to 5 May 2008
Decisions advised: July 2008
Projects may start: 15 August 2008
Round 3
Applications accepted: 6 May 2008 to 7 July 2008
Decisions advised: October 2008
Projects may start: 15 October 2008
Round 4
Applications accepted: 8 July to 1 September 2008
Decisions advised: November 2008
Projects may start: 15 January 2009
Important
Applicants are advised to contact the community partnerships staff before submitting an application to discuss the proposed starting dates for their project and the most appropriate funding round in which to lodge their application.
Where possible, out-of-time applications for professional development grants should be submitted in one of the above listed rounds. If this is not possible, clients should contact community partnerships staff to discuss the out-of-time process.
