About the grant
The Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature acknowledges the achievements of eminent literary writers who are 60 years of age and over who have made outstanding and lifelong contributions to Australian literature.
The award is valued at $50,000.

Eligibility
To be eligible, you must meet the general eligibility requirements and any specific eligibility requirements provided for specific grants.
To be eligible the nominee must:
- be an Australian writer
- be 60 years of age or over
- have been nominated by other people or organisations
- have produced a critically acclaimed body of work over a long creative life.
Writers may not nominate themselves.
Selection criterion
- the literary eminence of the nominated writer
- the importance of their previous work.
Selection process
The Literature Board will assess applications according to the selection criteria above. The outcomes will be published as a Grant Assessment Report.

Online nominations are not available for this award. You will need to complete a hardcopy application form which is then mailed to the Australia Council.
