About the awards
The Kirk Robson Awards recognise leadership among young community arts and cultural development practitioners. Named in memory of community cultural leader Kirk Robson, whose life was cut short tragically in 2005, the Kirk Robson Awards acknowledge leadership in community arts and cultural development in the areas of inclusiveness, consensus, self-determination, reconciliation and social justice.
The award is worth $10,000 per recipient with up to three nominations being awarded.

Eligibility
Nominees must be individual artists or arts workers who are 30 years or under in the calendar year in which they are being nominated. Nominations will be accepted from organisations and individuals. Artists and arts workers may not nominate themselves.
Selection criteria
Nominations for the awards will be assessed against the following selection criteria:
- a sustained commitment of at least three years to community arts and cultural development practice
- artistic and/or community leadership
- evidence of positive achievements for a community with whom the nominee has worked
Selection process
The Community Partnerships Committee will assess applications according to the selection criteria above.

How to apply
Online nominations are not available for the Kirk Robson Awards.
A hard copy nomination must be submitted.

Supporting materials
Nominations should comprise of the following:
- A nomination form
- A letter from the nominator explaining the reasons for their nomination relating to the selection criteria (maximum of 5 pages)
- Letters of support (maximum of 5 pages)
- The nominee’s curriculum vitae (maximum of 5 pages).
Total written material including support letters must not exceed 15 pages
In addition to the above letters of support and information about the nominee, applicants must submit ONE of the following:
- Five pages of written material (for example, excerpts of published writing, research, or press coverage).
OR
- 10 printed photographs or electronic images (showing recent work of the artists and or community). If more than 10 are submitted, only 10 will be shown
OR
- Five minutes of video or sound recording on either DVD or CD (providing a recent example of the work of the artists and/or community). Only the first five minutes will be presented to the committee. Please ensure the DVD/CD you send has the five minutes you want the committee to review at the very beginning.
OR
- Up to three live website links (URL). These must be embedded in to a word or pdf document
Please provide a brief explanation of how the support material is relevant to the nominee’s past work and ensure that all supporting material is clearly labeled.

- read the Funding Guide for 2012, in particular the general eligibility requirements, the information on making an application and the information on how your application will be assessed;
- read all of the information provided for this award (across all the tabs above);
- get in contact with the relevant project officer to discuss your nomination;
- prepare your nomination, being mindful that you address all of the eligibility and selection criteria for this award; and
- ensure all support material is included with the nomination by the 2 March 2012 closing date
