The writers’ emeritus award acknowledges the achievements of eminent literary writers 60 years of age and over who have made outstanding and lifelong contributions to Australian literature.
It is worth up to $50,000.
This award is open to writers who are 60 years of age or over and who must be nominated by other people. Writers may not nominate themselves.
Nominated writers must have produced a critically acclaimed body of work over a long creative life.
Selection criteria
Nominations must demonstrate the literary eminence and importance of previous work.
Online applications will not be available for this grant. You will need to submit a hardcopy (i.e. printed) application form which is then mailed to the Australia Council.
