Support materials - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts
For your application to be eligible for consideration for funding, you must include the following required support material.
Your application will be automatically rejected if this material is not provided.
All applicants must provide:
- written confirmation of the names and availability of the artists, key arts workers and/or venues involved in the project
- letters of support from relevant Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists and/or communities
- a current curriculum vitae of no more than one page each for all artists and other personnel involved in the project. Applications for international projects must also provide written and dated evidence of any invitations from the overseas hosting organisation(s) and/or venue(s).
Individuals must provide:
- a letter/certificate confirming their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity provided by an organisation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 or other relevant legislation. This must be on letterhead and signed or stamped with a common seal; or
- a letter/certificate confirming their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity provided by an Indigenous land council. This must be on letterhead and signed or stamped with a common seal.
Groups must provide:
- a letter from an organisation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 or other relevant legislation that recognises the group as being representative of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts or artists. This must be on letterhead and signed or stamped with the organisation’s common seal.
- a letter/certificate confirming the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity of key artists and/or arts workers. This must be provided by an organisation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 or other relevant legislation. This must be on letterhead and signed or stamped with the organisation’s common seal.
When proposals are submitted from organisations or individuals which involve companies funded by the major performing arts board (MPAB), a letter of agreement between the applicant and the MPAB-funded company must be provided to both the MPAB and the ATSIAB.
Organisations must provide:
- a current copy of the organisation’s certificate of incorporation
- a complete copy of the organisation’s most recent signed audited accounts and statutory reports for the previous year. For smaller organisations, where audited accounts are not a legal requirement, the most recent financial statement should be certified by an independent accountant in public practice
- an explanation of what will be done to ensure artists’ intellectual property rights will be respected and protected.
Administering organisations must provide:
- An administrating body must also provide the same required support materials as organisation applicants.
All applicants must also include with their application any one of the following relevant support materials:
- a set of 35 mm mounted slides or photographs of work (maximum of 10 for individuals and 20 for groups)
- a high-quality VHS video, DVD, CD or audio cassette of up to 10 minutes, with accompanying explanatory notes of up to 250 words
- a CD-ROM with accompanying explanatory notes of up to 250 words (any other delivery systems should be discussed with staff)
- for participating writers, a sample of writing (if only one writer, attach no more than 10 pages; if several writers, limit sample to two pages per writer)
- for performing arts projects, a copy of the script of the project to be funded
- for music CD production, a letter of confirmation from the recording studio or producer and a promotional/distribution plan
- for publishing projects, a letter of intent from the publisher, a complete typed manuscript and a distribution plan
- for artforms other than written artforms, five further pages of written material
- for the artists named in the proposed project, a letter/certificate confirming Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity provided by an organisation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 or other relevant legislation.
Important information
Support material may be considered in the sequence submitted unless applicants indicate which parts of the material should be considered first. Any material supplied in addition to the required support material will not be considered in the assessment of your application.
If you need assistance in determining the support material you are required to submit or when you must submit it, please contact Australia Council staff.
Applicants are reminded that applications must be received at the Australia Council or postmarked by the closing date for the relevant category. If the closing date falls on a weekend or public holiday, the application must be received or postmarked no later than the next working day.
If you do not include the required support material with your application on the closing date, your application will be ineligible.
