Support materials - dance
For your application to be eligible, you must submit the required support material in addition to the application form by the closing date.
Media material
All applicants must provide 15 minutes of recent relevant work submitted on:
- One media file burnt to DVD or CD.
Please note that navigable or authored DVDs will not be accepted as required support material.
It is recommended that you include at least one unedited section of footage from performance or rehearsal. It is in your best interest to put the material you want the dance board to see at the beginning, as only the first 15 minutes of material is provided to the board. You do not have to provide the whole 15 minutes of footage.
The media material may include material dubbed to the accepted format from other sources. If your work cannot be presented in the accepted format, for example, some multimedia projects, please contact Australia Council staff.
OR
Written material
Non-arts producing applicants (for example, service providers, conferences, journals) must provide:
- 3–10 pages of written material that may include annual reports, media coverage or letters of support.
Additional support material before the board meeting
For your application to be eligible for consideration for funding, you must submit the following before the board meeting. The date by which this material must be received will appear in the letter or email acknowledgment of your application.
- When proposals are submitted from organisations or individuals that involve major performing arts board-funded companies, a letter of agreement between the applicant and the MPAB-funded company must be provided to both the MPAB and the dance board
- In line with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Policy and its underpinning principles, the Australia Council requires that applications for projects containing representations of artistic/cultural practice or intended outcomes relating to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists or communities must provide letters from relevant communities or artists. Letters must show clear evidence of support and agreement for the activities undertaken. In preparing your application, you may wish to consult the Indigenous protocol guides in song, performance, writing, new media and visual arts.
- You must also submit letters of confirmation from key participating artists and, if relevant, acceptance letters from institutions, individuals or international invitations.
Any material supplied in addition to the required support material may not be considered in the assessment of your application. If you need assistance in determining the support material you are required to submit or when it must be submitted, please contact Australia Council staff.
Budgets
Some applications will be for a project involving a number of stages. You are encouraged to present separate budgets for each stage in addition to the overall budget for the project. This will help the dance board understand the resources involved in the development of the work. The board will assess the whole proposal, but in the end may only support specific stages of the project.

Support materials can be submitted in the following digital formats:
- Audio files - .mp3 (128 - 44.1kb/s)
- Images - .jpg (80 per cent quality)
