Industry and Investment NSW offers a range of services to meet the needs of Aboriginal enterprises. These services are delivered through a network of experienced Aboriginal Business Development staff across NSW. They provide guidance in accessing business support services.

Mentoring

Industry & Investment NSW

The Business Mentoring and training program offers business owners to experience the benefits of a professional business mentor coupled with a co-operative learning environment.  The program helps participants reach their full potential enabling them to develop their business further by using a mentor to exchange their insights and experiences.

The program incorporates four streams, aimed at targeted business owners:

  • Young Entrepreneurs (18-30 years)
  • Women in Business
  • Small Business
  • Advanced Business Mentoring (For companies over $1 million in turnover)

Women in business mentor program

The program assists emerging women business owners (mentorees) to grow their business by linking them with experienced business people (mentors). Using a combination of mentoring and practical sessions, the program assists women to improve their business skills and confidence, foster networking and successfully manage business growth.

The State & Regional Development and Tourism division’s program of international trade missions and exhibitions offers export-ready NSW companies an effective way to identify new international business opportunities and to acquire the knowledge and connections critical to export success.

Industry capability network

Department of State and Regional Development

The Industry capability network, formerly the Industrial Supplies Office, was established to help NSW firms access opportunities for business that would otherwise be sourced from overseas. This is done by assisting companies to identify competitive local manufacturers and providers for the products and services they require. It also aims to increase Australian content in major projects being undertaken in Australia and overseas.

The program assists in the establishment of locally created and viable Aboriginal businesses. It assists in the development of a business plan; arranges accredited small business training; provides information on financial management; provides ongoing mentoring support once your business is up and running; and provides information on how to apply for funding.

Business cluster funding supports the facilitation and growth of substantive and critical geographical and/or industry sector collaborative efforts. With a large range of benefits, Business cluster funding encourages feasibility and formation through to operational and strategic ongoing sustainability. These cluster structures typically include many organisation such as private companies, Government and other public institutions and not-for-profit organisations which share a mutual goal to address a significant economic issue.

Business incubator

Hunter Business Centre

The Hunter Business Centre operates a small business incubator providing flexible and competitively priced office space. The incubator is provided to assist new and existing small businesses to grow and attain long-term commercial viability. Additionally, the incubator provides a supportive environment with business management assistance, shared resources along with full IT capabilities for each tenant. Our offices are leased on a monthly basis, there are no long-term obligations, with simple licence arrangements and no legal fees.
