2009 Australian Dance Awards winners
Several outstanding figures in Australian dance were recognised at the Australian Dance Awards held in Melbourne on 7 June.
A former member of the Australia Council’s Dance Board, Jeff Meiners received an award for outstanding achievement in dance education. The Award recognised his dedication to dance, the inspiration he provides to teachers and artists, and his passion and advocacy for Australian dance.
The Age I’m In by Force Majeure was awarded for outstanding performance by a company, for being a ‘provocative and captivating theatrical experience’. The production received support from the Australia Council through the New Australian Stories initiative and Major Festivals initiative.
Other outstanding performances recognised at the awards included Tracks Stuck, Tanja Liedtke’s construct and Sydney Dance Company Sid’s Waltzing Masquerade.
