Indij Readers is an innovative, not-for-profit company that produces contemporary Indigenous books for Australian schools. Philanthropic funding has helped more books be developed by communities, with each published story becoming a source of community pride.
Indij Readers aim to progress reconciliation throughout Australia. Their stories deal with issues important to children of all cultures; family and self esteem, pride, good health, humour, going to school and tolerance.
Artsupport Australia has been able to assist Indij Readers to broaden their philanthropic net.
Over the last five years Indij Readers' journey and success would not have been possible without the advice, encouragement, enthusiasm and funds from their philanthropic partners. With ongoing support from Artsupport Australia, Indij Readers have secured initial and renewal grants from the Clayton Utz Foundation (as well as continued pro bono legal and administrative support), a Westpac Foundation grant and funding from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation. Indij Readers Big Books project also received funding from Perpetual Trustees and the Nelson Meers Foundation.
