Kurruru Youth Performing Arts is uniquely recognised as Australia’s leading performing arts company for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Meaning ‘Circle’ in Kaurna language, Kurruru strengthes culture and provides quality performing arts opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their communities across South Australia.
Kurruru is committed to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, and providing real pathways, mentoring and training for emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts workers. Offering a jam-packed workshop program and with its performance troupes, Kurruru mounts major annual performances and has a presence across South Australia, Australia and the world at festivals, community events and various partnerships.
In the next three to five years, Kurruru is aiming to become a sleeker and more mature performing arts company.
Increased philanthropic support would allow Kurrur to strengthen its operational capacity. Developing Kurruru's office and studio accommodation, training and development programs, and marketing would mean the company could, in turn, increase the quality of arts experiences available to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
