The Mirndiyan Gunana Aboriginal Corporation have showcased the artistic excellence of Lardil and Kayadilt cultures of Mornington Island since 1973.

Through the Mornington Island Dancers and the Mornington Island Arts, the corporation combines the message of Indigenous culture through traditional dance and contemporary art.

The community that Mirndiyan Gunana Aboriginal Corporation work within face many contemporary challenges; the most poignant being cultural maintenance. To ensure culture is preserved Mirndiyan Gunana are galvanising young people through dance and visual arts programs.  The organisation’s vision is to restore a sense of pride and hope to their community.

In order to do this a number of strategic alliances have been forged with key local organisations such as the school, the Council and local PCYC.   Mirndiyan Gunana Aboriginal Corporation are also heavily involved in education programs to preserve language, and provide staff and educational tools to the local school.

Philanthropic programs are  key to supporting the company in a number of projects that stimulate the youth (our cultural future) to embrace and preserve their distinctive cultural heritage.
