Four Winds Festival
The organisers of the Four Winds Festival on the far south coast of New South Wales are well on their way to securing funds to build a permanent Sound Shell on the festival site.

Held in a bush amphitheatre near Bermagui, a small town on the south coast of New South Wales, the biennial Four Winds Festival of classic, cultural and world music has always had big dreams. Its current goal is to transform the festival stage into a world-class venue or Sound Shell.
Festival Chair, Sheena Boughen and Director, Sian Morgan-Hall, have extensive experience in fund-raising, but with a goal of raising $800,000 for the Sound Shell in time for the 2012 Four Winds Festival, some serious advice was needed.
The scope of the project was outlined to the Director of Artsupport Australia, Louise Walsh, ‘Whose questions were very perceptive and thought-provoking’, says Sheena.
‘Louise helped in a number of critical ways and advised that the key to success was engaging a professional fund-raising consultant. We subsequently appointed Frankie Airey of Philanthropy Squared,’ she explains.
Four Winds also went on to establish a user group, a group of advisors and investigated new ways of developing a culture of giving.
‘In one year of planning and eight months of active campaigning, we have raised over 60 per cent of our goal through the support of our national audience base, our local community and Communities Arts NSW.
‘Furthermore, in the process we are creating new habits for organisational sustainability through philanthropy,’ adds Sheena.
