Over the past six years Artsupport Australia has mentored Gondwana Choirs and introduced it to key business leaders and philanthropists.

‘These connections have proved invaluable to funding our programs, including the Gondwana National Indigenous Children’s Choir which grew out of a successful collaboration between our Sydney Children’s Choir and communities across the Torres Strait Island,’ explains General Manager, Alexandra Cameron-Fraser.

‘With the assistance of Artsupport Australia we have raised over $650,000 from individual donors, trusts and foundations – greatly enhancing our ability to plan for the future and offer amazing musical and educational opportunities to more talented young people around Australia.’

When the opportunity arose to run a regional music camp in 2010, Artsupport Australia helped Gondwana Choirs secure a generous donation from the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.

‘This enabled talented young singers from across the Torres Strait Islands to travel to the island for a week of inspiring singing, dance and song-writing workshops, culminating in a concert for the whole community,’ adds Ms Cameron-Fraser.
