Individual donations, workplace giving, foundations and trusts, financial planners and corporate foundations all have a role to play in growing cultural philanthropy in Australia.
Arts organisations across Australia are using their creativity to find innovative ways to tackle today's social issues. The arts are assisting young people, the ageing, Indigenous communities and those experiencing disadvantage, by providing both skills and positive experiences.
Artsupport Australia has worked with philanthropists and foundations which may not have had an interest in the arts, or have been aware of the benefits the arts can bring.
Artsupport Australia provides a free service to those interested in giving to increase understanding, engagement, and support for the arts.
Artsupport Australia works closely with individual philanthropists and foundations to:
- source arts projects in need of funding and co-funding, responding to criteria provided by philanthropists and foundations
- provide advice on the cultural sector, in consultation with Australia Council staff and peak arts bodies
- clarify requirements, specifications and assessment processes to help open the door to cultural recipients.
Since it began in 2003, Artsupport Australia has facilitated more than $20 million in philanthropic funding for the arts in Australia.
Artsupport Australia works closely with Philanthropy Australia, the peak organisation for the sector.
