There are different giving options to suit the circumstances of each donor.
For some a foundation will be an effective way of formalising a giving program. For others, an endowment fund, sub-fund of a community foundation, or one-off donation will be best. Decisions like these can be best made in consultation with professional accountants or financial advisers.
Foundation types include:
- private foundations, established by individuals
- family foundations
- government initiated foundations, established with a government grant or from income from legislated levies
- community foundations
- corporate foundations
- hybrid foundations, which may combine characteristics of the above.
For more information on foundations please refer to Philanthropy Australia.
Artsupport Australia connects foundations with artists and arts organisations who can benefit from their support.
Artsupport Australia can also support foundations wanting to donate to specific Australia Council projects through the Australia Council Donation Fund.
