Caroline Vu

Caroline Vu

Caroline Vu's role is dedicated to the arts sector in Greater Western Sydney and Aboriginal arts in regional New South Wales.

Caroline joined Artsupport Australia in October 2010 and is now based in Parramatta; a region with the fastest growing population in Australia. She has a legal  background and brings seven years’ experience working in Western Sydney to the role.

Prior to joining Artsupport Australia, Caroline worked as a commercial lawyer at boutique Sydney law firm, Pigott Stinson, where she acted for charitable foundations, global companies in the pharmaceutical and software industries and national transport groups. She also spent five years as a Board member of Information & Cultural Exchange (ICE), a Parramatta-based arts organisation that works through digital media and community development to build the capacity of communities in Greater Western Sydney. While completing her studies in law, Caroline worked as ICE’s Funding Coordinator and grew the organisation’s income from the philanthropic and government sectors.

Caroline has also worked at the University of Sydney in postgraduate policy and advised postgraduate students on matters of candidature. She has a strong record of activity in social justice, human rights and the multicultural sector during her time at university as a member of the Youth Wing of the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW and organiser of the first conference in the state to take up issues of culturally and linguistically diverse young people as a primary focus.

On the Artsupport role she says, 'It's very exciting to be working in Western Sydney and with Aboriginal organisations in regional New South Wales - these areas are so diverse in terms of their populations and the artforms. The arts are already playing a vital role in these areas, whether it's art being created for its intrinsic value, or art as creative solutions to social issues. Increasing giving to the arts will mean that the arts perform this role even better and with even greater impact.'
