Music - international pathways 2008 round 3

International pathways is an initiative of the Australia Council's music board and market development section. The initiative seeks to assist with strategic international artistic and market development activities for Australian music and musicians.

Applications to the third round of international pathways for 2008 were assessed on Monday 3 November 2008 by a panel comprising music board member Andy Arthurs (Qld) and peer assessors Ash Manning (NSW) and Mark Mitchell (SA), with advice from representatives from the market development section. On the basis of the panel’s recommendations, the executive director, market development, made the final funding decision.

There were three rounds for the initiative in 2008. In this third round of the year, the panel approved grants totalling $137,027.

Assessment

The assessment panel looked at all the proposals in relation to the following criteria:

  • Artistic merit
  • Export readiness and the quality of the marketing strategy
  • Evidence that the activity is well planned and achievable

The proposals were assessed against the selection criteria, in competition with the other proposals, and were given an overall percentage rating. They were then ranked according to their rating, and funding was allocated to the highest ranked proposals.
