The reluctant museum visitor
Examines the demographic, cultural and attitudinal characteristics of non-visitors to museums and galleries.
This study was funded by the Australia Council, the Department for the Arts and Cultural Heritage, and the five State collecting institutions in South Australia. It follows the 1991 report Art galleries: who goes there?, a study of visitors to three South Australian art galleries, prepared by Professors Tony Bennett and John Frow.
While the findings of this report are based on a survey of Adelaide households in March 1993, the results are relevant to museum and gallery directors throughout Australia.
This publication is only available in hard copy.
