A national survey of reading, buying and borrowing books
Key findings of a national telephone survey to establish patterns of reading, buying and borrowing of books for pleasure.
The Books Alive campaign forms part of the Book Industry Assistance Plan, funded by the Federal Government and co-ordinated by the Australia Council for the Arts. Books Alive is a four year campaign to promote the intrinsic value of books, reading and literacy (particularly for children), and the books of Australian writers.
Research was undertaken by ACNielsen to inform the development of the Books Alive campaign and involved four separate phases of research. This report represents stage 4 of the research, that of a national telephone survey to establish patterns of reading, buying and borrowing of books for pleasure.
