Securing the future: Major Performing Arts Inquiry final report
In December 1998 the Major Performing Arts Inquiry was established by the Commonwealth Government.
The committee undertaking the Inquiry was charged with 'identifying options and making recommendations on actions that can be taken by governments and the sector to ensure that Australia has a financially healthy, artistically vibrant and broadly accessible major performing arts sector'.
The Inquiry was also required to report on the nature of the challenges facing the companies and the forces driving change in the sector.
The Major Performing Arts Inquiry discussion paper was released in July 1999. Securing the future: Major Performing Arts Inquiry final report was released in December 1999 by the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). .
