In repertoire: a guide to Australian contemporary performance

A snapshot of innovative Australian performance of the early 21st century.

Some of Australia's most distinctive and well-travelled performing artists appear in the pages of this publication.  Their creations embrace multiple forms, from circus to physical theatre, performance art, outdoor spectacles, visual art installations, site-specific works, multimedia collaboration, Asian training regimes, new media and stand-up comedy.

This publication is by no means a definitive portrait, as it represents those artists and companies who at the time of publication have works available for touring. Nonetheless, most of the key players are included and the guide is indicative of an astonishing variety of artistic visions, forms and touring experience.

Some established and emerging practitioners who do not have entries in the guide are mentioned in the works-in-progress and essays chapters, which introduce you to the recent history of Australian circus, physical theatre and performance practices. The publication also includes a database of companies, artists, works and contact details.
