Funding of film and video

Overseas investors contributed $224 million to 14 films, accounting for 57 per cent of total funding for Australian and co-production feature films in 2008-09.

This information was gathered in the National Survey of Feature Film and TV Drama Production, 2008-09, conducted by Screen Australia.

In the same period, direct Australian government sources contributed 9 per cent of total funding for Australian features. The majority of these funds were from Screen Australia, which invested $25 million in 18 Australian features and one co–production.

In 2005–06, the Australian Government provided $140 million in funding for film and video, and state and territory governments contributed $75.4 million.
