Film and video: Australian box office

Total box office receipts in Australia for 2008 were $945.4 million, an increase of 5.6 per cent on the previous year.

According to Screen Australia, a total of 301 films were released at Australian cinemas in 2008.

Australian films earned $35.5 million or 3.8 per cent of the total Australian box office in 2008. This includes all Australian films showing in 2008, even if they were released in previous years.

In 2007, Australian films earned 4 per cent of total box office earnings. The 10 year average for Australian film earnings was 4.4 per cent.
