Permission to use Australia Council copyright materials

Permission to use Australia Council copyright materials must be obtained in all instances except where such use falls within one of the exceptions to copyright infringement under the Copyright Act 1968.

Generally, an exclusive permission to use Australia Council material will not be issued because of the public's right to access government information. However, the Australia Council will consider requests for more extensive copyright licence arrangements, or where the request includes a proposed commercial use.

Charges

As a general principle, no fees are charged where the reproduced material is being provided free-of-charge to the public. Where permission is sought to use Australia Council copyright material for advertising or commercial purposes to generate a financial return, the Australia Council may set an appropriate payment.

Acknowledgement

All permissions granted are subject to full acknowledgment of the Australia Council copyright and its source.

Requests seeking permission to reproduce Australia Council copyright material should be lodged via the online copyright request form.  If you are unable to use the online form, please send a letter containing the same information to the following address:
