The Major Performing Arts Consultation Forums have now passed.

The MPA Framework Consultation period has now closed.

About the Consultation Forums

The Major Performing Arts (MPA) sector forms an important part of Australia’s arts ecology contributing to the development of arts in Australia. The MPA sector comprises leading performing arts companies in the fields of dance, theatre, circus, opera, orchestral and chamber music.  Funding support for MPA companies is provided by the Australian and State Governments under the National Framework for Governments’ Support of the Major Performing Arts Sector (the MPA Framework).

Preliminary consultation with stakeholders, including the MPA companies, the broader arts sector and the general public, identified a range of perspectives on, and issues with the MPA Framework.

The second phase of Major Performing Arts Framework consultation seeks responses to the Consultation Paper via a national process administered online through the Australia Council website. This will be supported by a series of national public forums in each state and territory. Commencing on 15 October 2018, the consultation will run for six weeks. Ministers agreed that, following conclusion of consultations, they will consider proposed enhancements to the MPA Framework out of session by early 2019.

This consultation process is open to everyone.
