Australia Council research

The Australia Council has its own Research and Strategic Analysis team

The Research and Strategic Analysis team is a part of the Arts Development Division, and works across the whole of the Council to manage and support the research activities of the council.  It consists of a research team of three people and the Library, incorporating the Council’s research collection.

Our research program

The Australia Council’s research program has a national focus. We aim to generate research that creates:

  • Value for the arts sector
  • Adds new knowledge to the field
  • Provides insight and direction for policy, practice and innovation.

As well as producing research in-house, with work with market and social research providers, leading academics and expert consultants.  We also partner with other organisations to produce studies of value to the sector.

Research projects

The Research and Strategic Analysis team conducts research into issues of importance, and key opportunities for the Australian arts sector.

All research projects have clear outcomes that are communicated to the sector with practical applications.

Research partnerships

The Australia Council has extensive networks in the Australian and international research community. This is particularly strong in partnerships with arts and culture researchers in the academic sector.

A manifestation of this is the Council is currently part of 12 ARC funded multi-year 'Linkage Projects' with tertiary education institutions.
