Community relevance

We're doing new research to explore 'community relevance' - an element of artistic vibrancy

As a part of the artistic vibrancy program, we're working on research and resources on community relevance in Australia's performing arts sector.

What is the community relevance project?

The community relevance project aims to explore and demonstrate the relevance of the performing arts to today's communities.

To find out where the idea for this project came from, and exactly what we're aiming to do, read the project background and objectives.

Defining community relevance

We've reviewed the literature on community relevance and prepared a discussion paper to start you thinking.

You can also read more about our working definition of community relevance, and a draft framework for reflection on community relevance.

Your views

We're interested in your views about community relevance.  We'd like to know:

  • What does community relevance mean for you?
  • What are the best examples of work in the performing arts that is relevant to the community?
  • How do you reflect on community relevance?
  • What are the main challenges for reflecting on community relevance?

Please read through it and tell us what you think on our discussion page.
