Production of selected arts and related products
The Australian National Accounts, compiled by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, provide information on economic activity in Australia. These accounts make it possible to estimate the size of the arts industry.
According to the 2001–02 financial year accounts, the value of Australian production of selected arts and related products was almost $13.9 billion. Of this, radio and television station services contributed 45 per cent to this total - the greatest contributor.

Because detailed components of the Australian National Accounts cannot be updated annually, estimates for subsequent years can be made using trends in the Australian economy, as shown in the national Gross Domestic Product figures.
Using this method, the estimated value of production of selected arts and related products for 2006–07 is calculated as approximately $19.7 billion. This is calculated by increasing the 2001–02 data by the percentage change in the trend value for Gross Domestic Product as per data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
