Arts Market Development Officers

Arts Market Development Officers are overseas-based Australia Council employees with local market knowledge, expertise and networks.

Currently, posts are placed in Berlin and Brussels, to assist in building market capacity for the sector, as well as coordinate key Australian profiles in their regions.

Berlin

Maria’s role is part-time and focused on literature and the visual arts. Based in Berlin, but with a mandate for the European Union (EU) Maria supports Australian activities at major international book fairs, literary festivals, art fairs and visual arts events in Europe.  As well as providing support around these events Maria's work builds networks with key decision makers and institutions and raises the profile of Australian art and literature in the European market.

David’s role as Project Director, IETM - Australia Council for the Arts Collaboration Project is a two-year consultancy based in the IETM office in Brussels, Belgium. The International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts is Europe’s largest contemporary performing arts network, and this position is a key element in the partnership between the Australia Council and the IETM, the first of its kind between the IETM and a non-European arts organisation. As Project Director, David will provide strategic support and advice to the Australian performing arts sector in developing relationships, networks and collaborative projects in the EU through the IETM network.

Program developments in 2010-2011

Artists and organisations from Australia and Europe will collaborate through artist-residency programs, producer placements, a one-off commission, workshops and a special ‘green’ project. View the announcement for more details.


David has worked extensively in Australia and internationally and has a longstanding relationship with the IETM network. He is the founding artistic director and producer of not yet it’s difficult (nyid) - one of Australia’s leading contemporary arts companies.
