China Shanghai Performing Arts Fair (ChinaSPAF) 2017 and satellite events

About the opportunity

Expressions of interest are now open for support to attend China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Performing Arts Fair (ChinaSPAF) 2017 with the possibility to also attend the Wuzhen Theatre Festival or the SHIFT Art and Technology Festival,Shanghai’s Interactive Festival of Theater in Jiading.

The Australia Council will lead an Australian delegation at ChinaSPAF 2017. The Council’s International Development Manager – North Asia will work with the delegation in Shanghai to build connections with international arts professionals, institutions and artists, and their capacity to develop partnerships across Asia.

We will support ten delegates with $3,000 each towards the cost of attending ChinaSPAF. The Council supported delegates will be responsible for all costs associated with attending ChinaSPAF including flights, insurance, accommodation and registration.

Included in the 10 supported delegates attending ChinaSPAF, three (3) delegates will be supported to attend the SHIFT Art and Technology Festival and three (3) delegates will be supported to attend Wuzhen Theatre Festival. The selected delegates will receive an additional $500.00. Please include this in your expression of interest if you would like to be considered for these additional opportunities.

Please note the short turnaround time in order to enable participants to submit a pitch to the ChinaSPAF Pitch Session: Going to Mainland China! by Monday 31 July, 2017.

Eligibility

Selection Criteria

You are required to respond to the following selection criteria:

1.  The impact of the project in developing future international opportunities and enhancing international reputation.

2.  Demonstrated understanding of the region and market.

3.  The timeliness of the project and demonstrated ability to plan and deliver the project effectively.

Composition of the delegation

The delegation will reflect the priorities of 2017 ChinaSPAF and so will include delegates in the disciplines of: children’s theatre, art and technology in performance, immersive and physical theatre.

Supporting material

No supporting material is required. Please note that you will be unable to attach supporting material to your online application.

You are not required to submit a budget with your expression of interest.

Selection process

Expressions of interest will be assessed according to the selection criteria above as well as in consideration of the overall composition of the delegation.

You will be informed of the outcome of your expression of interest by mid – late July 2017.

Note, this is an expression of interest and not a grant application. It does not count as an application to the Australia Council Grants Program.

Changes to grants payments

The way Australia Council grants payments are made has changed. Effective immediately, grant recipients will no longer send an invoice for payment of a grant. Instead, after you accept our offer of funding, we will pay your grant into your nominated bank account and send you a Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI).

Important information for administered grants

If you plan to have your grant administered by a third party, applicants will now need to ensure that the administrator is registered on the Australia Council online system before you begin your application. This means you cannot complete or submit an application if your administrator is not registered.
