Cath Cantlon is an artist and arts practitioner that has led and created arts projects across a range of artforms in a career that spans more than 30 years.
Some of her project highlights include designing and managing the state-wide Waterworks project for Country Arts SA which resulted in contemporary public art in remote locations on the theme of water. With writer Catherine Murphy, she also devised and managed the cross-cultural arts project See Saw in Ceduna.
In 2001, Cath received an Australia Council Ros Bower award for her contribution to the theory and practice of community art.
Cath works as the public art officer at Adelaide City Council while maintaining a profile and work as a freelance artist/designer. Her most recent project was the design and construction of a $12 million courthouse development in Port Augusta, South Australia. Cath worked as a lead artist with John Turpie and a team of artists to develop culturally appropriate art to integrate into the building and landscape design of the new site.
She is currently designing My Life, My Love for The State Theatre Company, a production, which has grown from a community level and involves people with a range of disabilities.
Cath recently conducted community workshops resulting in sculptural elements from recycled materials. These sculptures were formed into a recycled forest in Port Adelaide as part of the inaugural Festival of the Port.
