Christian Capurro

Melbourne based artist, Christian Capurro’s installation Another Misspent Portrait of Etienne de Silhouette was featured in the Robert Storr's Think with the Senses—Feel with the Mind exhibition at the 2007 Venice Biennale.

The work centres on a Vogue Hommes magazine that was completely erased by hand by approximately 260 people between 1999 and 2004. This five-year collaborative erasure work was shown at nine sites around Melbourne, Australia in 2004-2005, accompanied by a talk or discussion by invited guests.

Christian’s recent group exhibitions include Before the Body - Matter, Monash University Museum of Art, Melbourne 2007; The body. The ruin, The Ian Potter Museum of Art, Melbourne University 2005; and New 07, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne 2007.

Christian was a committee member of West Space Inc. He has work in private collections in Australia, Japan, Europe and the USA.
