EXPERIMENTOPIA - 2009 International Biennial of Media Arts
> EXPERIMENTA COMMISSIONS ANNOUNCED
From a competitive field in which an unprecedented high number of outstanding submissions were received, we are pleased to announce the successful artists for the Experimenta Commissions 2008 program for the Experimentopia exhibition.
Congratulations to Marco Bresciani (Vic) and Kit Wise (Vic).
Also to Rhys Turner & Melissa Ramos (NSW), Sarah Firth (ACT) and Andrew Buchanan (Vic) whose projects are funded through the Australia Council’s Young and Emerging Artists’ Initiative for artists under 30.
Details of the projects will be revealed in May 2009 on the Experimenta website and through the Experimenta ebulletin.
In May Experimenta invited Australian artists to submit proposals for commissioned artworks to be included in our next exhibition of exceptional Australian and international media artworks. The call out urged artists to "look closely at your surroundings, both local and global, and consider what would you fight for? What would you fight to prevent? What are you willing to put yourself on the line to protect or create? What is that world, neighbourhood, landscape, or object? And how does it look, sound, and feel?"

EXPERIMENTA PLAY++ Presented as part of ISEA2008
Experimenta Play ++ was a hit in Singapore at Sculpture Square attracting 1071 visitors over 9 days. The exhibition featured recent Australian media artworks that respond to the gallery visitor through playful and innovative interfaces involving touch, movement, sound, shadow, and pressure.
