The organisation

Brisbane Festival is Brisbane’s biennial international multi-arts festival offering a program of theatre, dance, music, opera, multimedia, visual arts and free community events.

The Festival endeavours to include the entire community in its activities by having intellectual rigour, international artistic credibility and an extremely broad grass roots support.

Under the direction of Artistic Director/CEO, Lyndon Terracini, Brisbane Festival 2006 delivered a program of international excellence, showcasing more than 540 performances over 17 days and nights.

The project

EPIC07 will provide Fiona with a 15-month internship with the Brisbane Festival to produce her own new media work, BIG SQUARE EYE, for the 2008 Brisbane Festival. The project will partner emerging new media artists with young people from Brisbane suburbs and regional Queensland to develop video works that explore diverse youth cultures.

BIG SQUARE EYE will be exhibited across gallery spaces and banks of television sets throughout state-wide audiovisual retail networks.

Fiona will be mentored by Lyndon Terracini and Producer Kate Fell, and will receive financial support from the Brisbane Festival team. This is in line with the Brisbane Festival's commitment to a strong youth arts program in 2008.

The EPIC Initiative has been assisted by the Australian Government's Young and Emerging Artists Initiative.
